Klaus Heeger elected as new Secretary General of CESI

On 19th December, the Board of CESI unanimously elected Klaus Heeger as the new Secretary General of CESI. He is the successor of Helmut Müllers, who has retired at the end of last year. “I appreciate the confidence the independent European trade unions have shown me“, said Heeger in an initial statement. “With powerful members and an established umbrella organisation in Brussels, we will continue to defend the interests of European employees in the future“, stated the newly-elected Secretary General.

IRU Indices show OECD countries on the brink of double dip recession

According to the IRU Road Transport Indices, economic development and transport performance in OECD and EU countries will slow down and stagnate in 2012, following a feeble economic growth in 2011.

Geneva – The IRU Road Transport Indices, which allow the comparison of GDP growth, road freight transport volumes and new vehicle registrations in 58 countries*, forecast that the OECD and EU countries will be confronted with a considerable slow down of economic growth and transport activities after a year of feeble economic growth.
