Unlocking the Potential of the EU Knowledge Based Bio-Economy: Innovating Towards Sustainablity

This evening, a high level panel of speakers will meet in the European Parliament to discuss how to unlock the potential of the EU Knowledge Based Bio-Economy (KBBE).

 

The event, which will be hosted by Sirpa Pietikäinen MEP, will explore the fundamental link between a supportive policy in the future CAP, climate action, energy, trade and the environment sectors to ensure the KBBE is a key driver for smart, sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Europe.

 

What works in tobacco control?

The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) provides a framework for evidence based measures for tobacco control. World No Tobacco Day 2011 advocates for countries to ratify and fully implement the Treaty. Some measures provided within the WHO FCTC are:

The WHO FCTC is an international treaty guiding national tobacco laws. It is a set of evidence-based legislative measures for tobacco control which for example limits exposure to smoke in public places and advertisements.

It includes:

•    Monitoring tobacco use and prevention policies

•    Protection of second-hand tobacco exposure

•    Offering help to quit tobacco use
