"Seizing the Summit Momentum and Advancing the Trade Agenda"

Brussels/Frankfurt, 14 June 2021 – The upcoming EU-US Summit in Brussels must be used to advance the transatlantic trade agenda. In recent weeks, both sides have already taken important steps to reduce the issues at stake in bilateral trade. However, both the Airbus-Boeing tariffs and the US tariffs on steel and aluminium continue to burden the mechanical and plant engineering sector. Solutions must be found here in the coming months.

‘End the Cage Age!’ The European Parliament has just approved a resolution in the framework of the European Citizens Initiative and supported by over 1.4 million European citizens across all member states. It stems from Article13 TFEU, which recognises animals - such as hens, calves, pigs, and farmed rabbits - as sentient beings.

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking (S2R) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding that will bring forward the standardization work on the railway sector in Europe.

S&Ds on conflict of interests: Czech PM Babiš is undermining European values and deceiving European taxpayers

The European Parliament adopted its resolution on the conflict of interests of the prime minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš. The Socialists and Democrats consider it unacceptable for a member of the European Council to abuse his position and make it possible to misuse EU funds. The resolution adopted by the MEPs comes as a result of a debate on the case held during the last plenary session in May 2021.

Covid-19: agricultural machinery manufacturers, dealers and contractors welcome the European pandemic response allowing to use transition engines built in 2019

On June 9th, the European Parliament adopted a text extending the transition provisions of certain machinery and tractors fitted with engines in the power range between 56kW and 130kW, in order to address the impact of COVID-19 crisis. The vote paves the way for the final adoption and publication in the Official Journal of the amended version of Regulation (EU) 2016/1628.
