EU farming community welcomes harmonisation of EU rules on maximum residues for plant protection products

Brussels. A new regulation revising the harmonised rules for maximum residue limits (MRLs) of plant protection products for food and animal feed has  come into force this September. COPA and COGECA welcome this new legislation, confident that it constitutes a foundation for improving consumer confidence in the EU way of producing food. They also welcome the fact that this legislation will apply to imported products, too.

MEPs adopted a first-reading legislative report on proposals to simplify and modernise the rules for the computerised reservation systems used by high-street and online travel agents to book airline tickets for their customers. MEPs believe this will mean more competition and therefore lower distribution costs, but they also want measures to ensure consumers get a fair deal - and can be presented with environment-friendlier travel options.
