Support five demo projects in the southern hemisphere

The EU-funded Project DiBiCoo – “Digital Global Biogas Cooperation” – supports the project development of five selected demo projects in the southern hemisphere. The project developers are currently looking for technology partners to realize their projects.

These are the five demo projects:

Argentina

­A way out of the EU gas price crisis with biomethane

  • Rapid scale up needed to achieve a biomethane production of at least 34 bcm before 2030.
  • Clear political support will give investors confidence to support biomethane deployment.
  • Biomethane produced in Europe is right now 30% cheaper than natural gas and can reduce EU energy dependency on external suppliers.

S&D Group votes to postpone the European Court of Auditors' 2020 discharge to October

The Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament’s committee on budgetary control (CONT) considered that more time was needed before deciding to grant the European Court of Auditors (ECA) the discharge for the 2020 accounts. A series of media investigations and serious allegations done by journalists reported that the ECA’s top management had failed to respect internally the standards of ethics and the sound financial management expected of this institution. These allegations concern in particular the ECA president Klaus-Heiner Lehne.

Air travel no longer possible between Russia & the EU

As a response to the ban of European states on the operation of flights of civil aircraft operated by Russian air carriers and/or registered in Russia, a restriction was introduced by Russia on the operation of flights by air carriers of 36 states. 

MiCA - Regulating crypto-assets: S&Ds deplore conservatives caving in to lobbying pressure

Today’s vote on regulating markets in crypto assets (MiCA) was postponed at the request of the conservative European People’s Party, with the support of the liberals and the populist right-wing ECR and ID. The media are reporting that this comes after pushbacks from lobbyists against an amendment their own EPP rapporteur negotiated to take on board the concerns from the progressives about the massive carbon footprint of crypto currencies.

PostEurop took note of the publication of the proposal for a regulation revising the Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (eIDAS) as regards establishing a framework for a European Digital Identity.
