I am taking the baton from Stephen Short with a lot of enthusiasm for the work done so far, and at the same time with a clear awareness on the increasing challenges ahead of us.

PETCORE Europe launched Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP)

Friday, February 11, 2022 — The Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP), created by PETCORE Europe in 2021, was aslo supported by tray manufacturers, the European Association of Plastic Recycling & Recovery Organizations (EPRO) and Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE).

S&Ds: EU-Africa summit must be the first step to a policy shift in our partnership

After two days of meetings between EU and African leaders, the S&D Group in the European Parliament reiterates the need for a new equal partnership that allows African countries to develop sustainable and decent jobs, investing in health and education. Our Group remains at the forefront in the effort to strengthen democracy, rule of law and human rights across the whole continent.

The S&D coordinator in the committee on development, Udo Bullmann MEP, said:

S&Ds achieve better protection for workers from cancer in the workplace

Today, the European Parliament will take yet another huge step towards protecting workers from exposure to dangerous substances at workplaces around Europe, in the fourth revision of the Carcinogens and Mutagens Directive (CMD). During the inter-institutional negotiations, the Socialists and Democrats successfully managed to include 12 reprotoxic substances. Reprotoxic substances can impair the ability to have children or cause irreversible harm to foetal development.

S&Ds: BECA report marks a milestone in the fight to beat cancer and towards future European Health Union

The report by the special committee on beating cancer (BECA) will mark a milestone in the fight against cancer in Europe. We are proud as socialists to have integrated the principle of social justice, the fight against inequity and inequality, and gender perspective at the heart of the report. The battle is not over yet. We expect this important outcome will be integrated into the future European Health Union (EHU).

Iratxe García urges the Commission to take action, following the ECJ ruling

Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament today urged again the European Commission to act on Hungary and Poland’s breaches on EU values, following the ruling of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) confirming that such a mechanism is in accordance with the EU Treaties.
