STANDARDIZATION CONFERENCE EXPLORES EU CYBERSECURITY LEGISLATION

On 15 March, the European Standards Organisations (ESOs), CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, joined forces with ENISA, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, to organise their 6th annual conference. The virtual conference focused on ‘European Standardization in support of the EU cybersecurity legislation’ and attracted over 900 attendees from the EU and from around the world.

Last night, European Parliament negotiators concluded a political agreement with EU member states on international procurement rules. The international procurement instrument (IPI) introduces measures limiting access to open EU public procurement tenders for non-EU companies from countries that do not offer similar access to EU companies. Its ultimate goal is to encourage the opening up of protected markets to EU economic operators, goods and services.

Following the OECD deal on a global minimum corporate tax rate, the EU must now ensure a rapid and ambitious implementation. EU ministers are expected to adopt an agreement tomorrow, but according to media reports they will postpone the implementation to December 2023.
