Registering cars abroad to become as simple as at home. Othmar Karas MEP

"We have to put an end to this bureaucratic maze", said Othmar Karas MEP, Vice-President of the European Parliament, on the current EU rules for registering cars which have already been registered in another EU Member State. "Some national authorities behave as if one is trying to register a moon buggy when all one wants is to register a completely normal car which has been registered in another EU country before", said Karas.

Attacks on IT systems in the EU will be subject to minimum standards of penal law. The European Parliament adopted a new EU Directive today introducing mandatory prison sentences for major attacks, for example. "There are more than 800,000 attacks a day in the EU. It is indispensable to introduce joint minimum sentences as such attacks can have destructive effects on the public infrastructure and on companies likewise", said Monika Hohlmeier MEP who is the European Parliament Rapporteur.

EP calls on EU to improve access to care of vulnerable groups

The European Parliament today adopted a report by Green MEP Jean Lambert on access to care for vulnerable groups. With access to healthcare and other social support services threatened by budget cuts, the report uncovers important findings and proposes measures to improve the access to care, support services and healthcare of the most vulnerable in society.
