S&Ds: Tax justice cannot wait for another scandal: citizens cannot accept secrets anymore

The S&D Group pushed the European Parliament for voting today in favour of the disclosure of income tax information by certain undertakings and branches. Member states are still blocking to move towards a fair and transparent solution for taxpayers in Europe with the so-called country-by-country-reporting (CBCR).

S&Ds achieve better protection for 1 million workers from cancer-risks in Europe

S&D - Socialists and Democrats
The Socialists and Democrats voted today in the European Parliament for more and better protection of workers from the risks related to the exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work. It is the third and last revision in this parliamentary term.

The S&D Group welcomes the approval of the report on the European Regional Development Fund and Cohesion Fund (ERDF-CF) backed today in Plenary by a large majority. This is a vital step to boost the crucial role of the ERDF-CF: the biggest European public investment tool, one fourth of the whole Multiannual Financial Framework spending over the next 7 years 2021-2027.

European Parliament sends strong signal of support for countries wishing to join the EU

S&D - Socialists and Democrats
Today, the European Parliament voted on the new financial Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III) devoted to support the candidate and potential candidate countries during the next long-term EU budget 2021-2027. The European Commission has proposed to increase the envelope of pre-accession funds to €14.5 billion. The Socialists and Democrats consider this is a good start for further negotiations.

S&Ds push for more funds in the EU 2021-2027 budget to support third countries, including for development, human rights and climate goals

Socialists and Democrats voted today in favour of a new ‘Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument’ (NDICI) that merges most of the EU’s current external financing instruments into one broad tool to assist third countries in our neighbourhood and beyond. As proposed by the European Parliament, it would assist third countries with €93 billion during the 2021-2027 period. It’s an increase of almost €4 billion compared to the European Commission initial proposal. 

Europe remains core market for private employment industry

World Employment Confederation–Europe
The 2019 Economic Report of the World Employment Confederation shows that private employment services developed positively in Europe in 2017. Agency work remains a core segment within the industry, with eight of the largest fifteen agency work markets globally being located in Europe, but other services gained traction.
 

Parliament backs action against discrimination and harassment of people of African descent

S&D - Socialists and Democrats
The European Parliament today for the first time supported a report on the fundamental rights of people of African descent. Harassment and discrimination towards people of African descent remains commonplace in much of Europe.
 
S&D Group spokesperson on the issue Cécile Kyenge, who has herself been subject to repeated racially motivated attacks said:
