The conference organised by the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament, chaired by MEP Maria Arena, will be held on 11 December from 9h00 to 10h00 to discuss impunity and the annual report of Fight Impunity, the Association against Impunity and for transitional justice.

Brussels, 7 December 2020 – At its annual sectoral Social Dialogue plenary meeting, social partners from the metal, engineering and technology-based industries (MET) published a joint position calling on governments to keep on investing in Europe’s industrial basis as cornerstone for a swift recovery.

Reacting to the recent conclusions on taxation from the EU economic and finance ministers, Pedro Marques MEP, S&D spokesperson on tax matters, said:

“We applaud Olaf Scholz’s efforts to step up the EU’s fight for tax justice. The Council today took on another important step in the fight against tax avoidance and evasion. From 2023 onwards, EU’s tax authorities will automatically exchange information on income earned by sellers on digital platforms.

Negotiators from the European Parliament concluded an agreement with the Council earlier today on the EU’s budget for the upcoming year. This agreement is all the more important as it precedes what should be a final agreement in the EU Council on the next seven-year budget for the European Union (MFF).
