Updated rules guarantee people always have a voice in Parliament

The Socialists and Democrats have led the way in updating internal rules to allow Parliament to function as normal and ensure people’s voices are always represented, even under extraordinary circumstances. The final vote on the update to the Rules of Procedure in extraordinary circumstances took place earlier today.

Gabriele Bischoff, leading the update to the Rules of Procedure, said:

Porto Agenda: giving social rights teeth to make people’s lives better

With today’s vote on the report a strong and social Europe for a Just Transition, the European Parliament is calling on European leaders to make social rights legally enforceable and reach concrete social objectives by 2030. The Socialists and Democrats had pushed for the 2017 adoption of the European Pillar of Social Rights in Gothenburg and are now leading the drive for a Porto Agenda, to be signed by EU leaders under the Portuguese Presidency at the Social Summit in Porto in May 2021.

S&Ds call for human rights sanctions and EU ban on products made with Uyghur forced labour

At the initiative of the Socialist and Democrats, the European Parliament is voting today on a resolution condemning the Chinese government led system of forced labour. Lara Wolters, S&D shadow on Sustainable corporate governance, said:

Martin Schirdewan, kommentiert die Ergebnisse:

EU-Asylpolitik: Weniger Beteuerungen, mehr Umsiedelung

Heute verabschiedete das Europaparlament seinen Bericht zur gescheiterten Umsetzung der Dublin-III-Reform. Das Dublin-System ist das Kernstück der EU-Asylpolitik und dieser Bericht befasst sich mit den Mängeln seiner Umsetzung durch die EU-Mitgliedstaaten.
