S&Ds say NO to self-centred national throwback on vaccination. The only way forward is an EU approach

Following the current debate around the procurement and distribution of the vaccine against Covid-19 at a European and member states level, the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament reiterate the call on all actors to ensure the European approach in order to guarantee all citizens have access to the vaccine in a solidary and fair manner. All self-centred national throwbacks should be avoided.

Following the approval of the resolution on ‘The deteriorating situation of human rights in Egypt, in particular the case of the activists of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR)’, the Socialists and Democrats reiterate their strong condemnation of the open and widespread human-rights violations currently taking place in Egypt and demand the release of Patrick Zaki, along with all those imprisoned for their opinions and for political reasons.

Death penalty is unacceptable. Federal executions in the US must be stopped

The Socialists and Democrats denounce and condemn with the strongest words the resumption by the United States of the executions at the federal level of prisoners on death row.

After a hiatus of 17 years, president Trump decided to resume this suspended practice now, during the transition period before the inauguration of president-elect Biden on the 20th January. This unprecedented action must be stopped.
