Le Parlement a adopté un rapport modifiant la directive sur les services universels et les droits des utilisateurs de communications électroniques, l'objectif principal étant d'améliorer la protection des consommateurs. Les dispositions du texte adopté portent notamment sur l'accès à l'information et au numéro d'urgence 112, la portabilité du numéro, la sécurité des réseaux et la protection des données personnelles. Le débat en plénière a eu lieu le 2 septembre dernier.

Brussels, 24 September 2008 – Today the European Parliament (EP) has taken a decisive step towards updating the regulation of telecoms markets and a better protection of the consumer. When adopting in first reading the parliamentary reportson the Electronic Communications Package, Members of the EP (MEPs) have progressed on responding to the technological challenges lying ahead while at the same time taking measures to promote national audiovisual and media policies. 

EP vote on the EU Telecoms Package: A positive step forward for the deployment of the next generation networks

Brussels – ETNO – which represents the leading investors in telecoms networks and services – welcomes the EP vote on the telecoms package and the introduction of concrete measures to accelerate the deployment of new high speed networks. Nevertheless, ETNO regrets the adoption of contradicting amendments which would lead to undue regulation of new fibre networks and remains very concerned with the new functional separation remedy.

Commercial vehicle manufacturers push fuel efficiency and environmental protection with “vision 20-20”

Hanover,  23 September 2008 - The European commercial vehicle manufacturers are taking the lead in pushing fuel efficiency to new levels, with the clear goal to contribute further to sustainable mobility around the world.

Daimler, DAF, Iveco, MAN, Scania, Volkswagen and Volvo Group outlined their  views in a joint press conference at the international motor show for commercial vehicles,  IAA, in Hanover, stressing that shaping the future of transportation is a collective challenge.
