New EU Member States, with the exception of Hungary and Slovakia, are still facing substantial problems implementing the current EU Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD), according to a new RICS report “Towards an Energy Efficient Building Stock” launched today (12 September 2008).

The European Union flag, anthem and motto are to be formally recognised by the European Parliament in October.
