CPME welcomes the adoption of a proposal for a directive on patients’ rights in cross-border care

The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) congratulates the European Commission for releasing the long-awaited proposal for a directive[1].

CPME supports the free movement of patients and health professionals within the EU. The European Commission’s proposed text is a step forward as it aims to clarify patients’ rights to cross-border healthcare and to provide legal certainty for patients, Member States and healthcare providers.

Renewed social agenda: holistic approach or shopping list?

Commenting the publication of the renewed social agenda, Rainer Plassmann, Secretary General of CEEP, expressed the hope that the document, and the related “social package”, is really driven by the necessity to take action.

Recommendations by French solar professionals to launch the national market

Brussels, 1 July 2008 - On the occasion of the symposium “Towards the development of the photovoltaic sector in France” organised by EPIA, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, together with the French actors of the sector in Aix les Bains (Savoie, France), professionals propose concrete solutions to allow France to really launch its market, in a similar way to its neighbouring countries of Germany or Spain.

While welcoming the French Presidency, Rainer PLASSMANN, Secretary General of CEEP, expressed his wish for a Presidency built on the concept of partnership and dialogue.

The Presidency has already shown its “listening attitude” at least in the social field as regards the organisation of extraordinary Comité du dialogue pour les questions européennes et internationales (CDSEI) meetings with the inclusion of the European Social partners.
