S&Ds: With Net-Zero Industry Act each member state gets the freedom to choose what technologies it considers strategic

The Socialists and Democrats have today led a majority for the adoption of the Net-Zero Industry Act in the plenary of the European Parliament. The S&Ds convinced the plenary of the need for a larger list of net-zero technologies compared to what the European Commission had initially suggested.

The European Parliament is set to adopt a landmark regulation to reduce packaging and packaging waste in the European Union, marking a critical step in addressing the climate and environmental harm posed by increasing packaging waste in Europe*.

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation will slash packaging waste by 15% by 2040. Despite facing significant opposition from the right-leaning faction of the European Parliament and intense lobbying efforts, the S&D Group has successfully garnered a majority to champion the cause.

Commission reaffirms commitment to H2 with major announcements

Today (Monday 20 November), at the European Hydrogen Week event in Brussels, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the second auction of the European Hydrogen Bank, as well as the signing of an historic agreement with the Brazilian state of Piaui. The announcement come only three days before the official launch of the €800m Hydrogen Bank pilot auction.
