Historic agreement provides basis for closer cooperation between European and Russian standardization organizations

Brussels, 17 September 2013 - Leaders from the European and Russian standardization organizations have signed a historic agreement in St Petersburg today (17 September). The Cooperation Agreement between CEN, CENELEC and Rosstandart provides a framework for closer collaboration on various aspects of standardization, which will facilitate trade in goods and services between Europe and Russia.

Wind energy associations gather to call for a 2030 renewables target

CEOs of 13 national wind energy associations from across Europe are meeting in Spain today to unite their call for a binding 2030 renewable energy target.

Discussions at the 3rd IRU/EU Road Transport Conference today centred on further improving efficiency in road transport. There was agreement that effective solutions to today’s challenges will help stimulate growth. Participants also called for international trade facilitation agreements such as the UN TIR Convention to be fully respected by all signatories.

Brussels, 16th September 2013 – The Aerospace & Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) today announced the appointment of Jan Pie as its new Secretary-General.
Mr. Pie will assume this role on 16th September 2013, succeeding Gert Runde who retires after 37 years of service to our industry.

The Yara Prize 2013 has been awarded to two prominent African laureates for their work for African farmers and for the continent's green revolution.

The Yara Prize Committee selected Mr. Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu, founder and CEO of the Smallholders Foundation in Nigeria, and Dr. Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, CEO of the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN).

The Yara Prize 2013 ceremony has taken place in connection with the African Green Revolution Forum in Maputo, Mozambique.

In a fully packed ceremony hall, where distinguished guests, government officials and representatives from civil society were present, the laureates were honored by Yara President, CEO and Chairman of the Yara Prize Committee, Jørgen Haslestad.

"Through this prize Yara wants to encourage improvements in the food systems, sustainable agriculture and the development of markets," Haslestad said. "We use the prize to highlight outstanding efforts by organizations or individuals to increase food productivity, security or availability."
