Boeing, American Airlines 737-800 ecoDemonstrator Airplane Prepares for Flight Test Program

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) has completed assembly of an American Airlines, Next-Generation 737-800 to be used as a flying test bed for validating environmentally progressive technologies. The airplane, known as the ecoDemonstrator, is being outfitted with advanced technologies and test equipment before it begins a month of intense flight testing in Montana.

The 2012 ecoDemonstrator program is a partnership between Boeing, American Airlines, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) are offering free advice to developers of research projects regarding different ways of taking standards into account and linking-up with standardization activities. This advice will be especially valuable for consortia that are intending to submit project proposals under the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

EU R&D budget shows added value of EU level spending

Today, July 9th the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Maire Geoghegan-Quinn announced the next and final set of calls for proposals valued at € 8.1 billion for the EU's 7th RTD Framework Programme with a total budget of €55 billion being allocated for innovative research between 2007-2013.

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament voted today on two Reports on defining EU Foreign Policy instruments for the financing of the EU's bilateral relations. This will be the new key tool of the Union to provide support to the 16 partner countries located East and South of its external borders for the period 2014-2020.

The two Reports are: 'Establishing a Partnership Instrument for cooperation with third countries', drafted by Mario Mauro MEP, and 'Establishing a European Neighbourhood Instrument', drafted by Eduard Kukan MEP.

Serge Bernasconi appointed new Chief Executive for EDMA and Eucomed

EuroACE announces new President and Vice-Presidents

Adam McCarthy (Johnson Controls) was elected President of the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EuroACE) for a 2-year mandate at the EuroACE General Assembly on 28th June, 2012. Adam McCarthy is Director Government and Trade Relations EMEA at Johnson Controls, and previous Chair of the EuroACE Working Groups on Financial and Fiscal Policies and on External Communications. Mr McCarthy replaces Jonna Byskata (United Technologies) who acted as President and previously Vice-President of EuroACE from 2008-2011.
