29 January 2013, Brussels – ETNO and the GSMA call on the European Parliament and Council to work towards the timely adoption of the EU Data Protection Regulation and to ensure that the final text reaches the proper balance between protecting consumers and driving economic growth.

On the occasion of European Data Protection Day, the GSMA and ETNO held a joint

British MEP Linda McAvan hosted a week-long exhibition on Carbon Monoxide in collaboration with CoGDEM*
A seminar entitled ‘Stop the silent killer: European approaches’ brought together victim groups, firefighters, poison control centers, consumer associations and International and EU institutions
Facts:

         - In 2011, 459 carbon monoxide incidents were, reported in Belgium, which resulted in 1003 individual intoxications and 32 deaths;

On 28 January, the Chairmanship of the European Banking Industry Committee (EBIC)1, which rotates on a yearly basis, was handed over to Gerhard Hofmann, a Vice-President of the European Association of Co-operative Banks (EACB) and a Board member of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken (BVR). Vice-Chair of EBIC will be Joseph Delhaye, Senior Vice President at the Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat, Luxembourg (European Savings Banks Group).

Today’s European Data Protection Day is a chance to both celebrate Europe’s strong principles on data protection and to reflect on the forthcoming changes that will be introduced through the new revised legislative framework.
