The European Covered Bond Council (ECBC) is pleased to announce that the results of its 2012 covered bond market data collection exercise have now been published on the ECBC website.

ORLEN research towards a Phenol Unit

Until August 23rd ORLEN will continue its research to determine capabilities of Polish and foreign firms to design, deliver, erect and commission a Phenol Unit in Płock. ORLEN intends to increase its share in the Polish market of phenols, where 70% of the demand is satisfied by imports, mainly from Germany, Belgium, and Finland. The project is scheduled to commence next year and the production launch is expected sometime in 2017.

European Health Award 2013: Six shortlisted projects with a patient-centred focus

Six cross-border health projects have now been short-listed for the prestigious European Health Award 2013. They cover topics such as air pollution; enhancing cross border healthcare; patient involvement in improving quality of care and health research; prevention of healthcare associated infections; information dissemination on novel psychoactive substances, and improving patient-doctor communication and patients´ understanding of their medical conditions.

Today at the European Forum Alpbach in Austria, an interdisciplinary conference for science, politics, business and culture, Democracy International presented the campaign for a more democratic EU. Key demand is a new EU convention.  

New major incidents in 2012 report by EU cyber security agency ENISA

The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) today issued a new report providing an overview of the major outage incidents in the EU in 2012. The aggregated report shows that out of the 79 incidents reports, almost 40% of the incidents affected the possibility of dialling the emergency number “112”. Mobile telephony/mobile Internet was most affected, and disrupted communications for millions of users.

Following recent dramatic events in Egypt and increasing tensions in Ukraine - Russia relations, the Chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok MEP, has scheduled an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the morning of Wednesday, 28 August 2013 to discuss in the presence of high-ranking EU officials how the EU should respond to these developments.
