Construction machinery will not be in the scope of the Clean Vehicles Directive

CO2 targets—Automotive suppliers urge co-legislators to take into account the risk for employment

Member States in the Council have adopted their position (‘general approach’) on the regulation for CO2 targets for cars and vans. Environment ministers decided to raise the target for cars for 2030 by 5 percentage points to 35%, raise the threshold of the mechanism to incentivise zero and low emission vehicles by 5 percentage points to 35% whilst better weighting low emission vehicles in the mechanism.

Brussels 10 October 2018: Wet wipes cause substantial damage to our sewer network. The vote by the ENVI Committee of the European Parliament today on single use plastics will reduce this.  

World Sight Day: Statement on the role of medical technologies play on improving lives of people with visual impairment

BRUSSELS, 10 October 2018 – Tomorrow is World Sight Day 2018. It reminds us about the importance of sight. Over 80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or cured. However, there remains a lot to do that patients across Europe can access diagnosis and treatment on time.  

Deputy Director-General Mr. Matthew Baldwin appointed as new European Coordinator for Road SAFETY

CITA warmly congratulates Mr. Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director-General of DG MOVE, on the appointment as the new European Coordinator for Road Safety in the European Commission.

We especially welcome this step since it offers the possibility to streamline effectively various aspects of road safety and will hopefully therefore help to achieve what should be the ultimate political objective: Vision Zero.
