Following the election of Manfred Weber as the European Peoples Party (EPP) Common Candidate, the Party of European Socialists (PES) welcomes him as the second contender entering the battle to become the next President of the European Commission. Frans Timmermans was already endorsed as PES Common Candidate on Tuesday. All other European political families are yet to select their frontrunners for the 2019 European election.

Poland makes wind energy comeback with commitment to develop 8 GW of offshore wind and ongoing 1 GW onshore auction

Poland marked its return to wind energy today with the announcement of ambitious plans to develop 8 GW of offshore wind by 2035. It came as Poland opened a 1 GW onshore wind auction on 5 November.
Polish State Secretary for Energy, Grzegorz Tobiszowski, today announced plans to develop 8 GW of offshore wind by 2035. Poland will soon pass a law to this effect, spelling out the annual volumes up to this date.
