As pressure grows to address auditing standards challenges to the audits of smaller and less-complex entities, ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Thinking Small First report reveals alternative ways to tackle the issue, without compromising on audit rigour.  
 
It comes as the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) is set to consult on its strategy from 2020 to 2023.

New EU rules will help crack down on letter-box companies

MEPs in the European Parliament legal affairs committee today backed new rules governing how companies can move between EU member states. The new proposals will help crack down on companies artificially moving their headquarters to other member states to avoid taxes or social legislation.

MEPs in the European Parliament Legal Affairs Committee today backed new proposals that would allow groups of European citizens to bring lawsuits collectively against large companies.

Fairness and transparency for business users of online platforms must be guaranteed, say S&Ds

The Socialists and Democrats backed today in the internal market and consumer protection committee a proposal to improve fairness and transparency for business users of online intermediation services. The proposal foresees a set of transparency measures to be taken by providers of online services such as Amazon, eBay, Google and Skyscanner in order to ensure transparency in the ranking, treatment and conditions for services and goods provided by business users to consumers.
