S&Ds: Today’s approval of the EU pesticides report is just the beginning of our fight to ensure human health and food security in Europe

The final PEST report voted today in plenary by an overwhelming majority calls on the European institutions and member states to make the authorisation system for pesticides in the EU more transparent, better financed and fully independent from private interests. Human health, environment and food safety always come first, highlights the S&D Group. This is the major outcome of 9 months of Committee work, led by its president, S&D member Eric Andrieu.

S&Ds: Time is running out - UK must break Brexit deadlock

S&Ds campaign for fairer and more gender sensitive taxation

The European Parliament today adopted a report on gender equality and taxation. Tax policies still affect men and women differently. Although conservatives and liberals tried to water down the report and opposed important reforms of the current tax systems which would contribute to greater gender equality in wealth and on the labour market, its progressive and feminist policy proposals make the report a milestone in the S&D Group's campaign to have fairer and more gender sensitive taxation.
 

Restrictions on steel imports could jeopardise the EU's 2030 renewables target

EU countries will discuss tomorrow a proposal from the European Commission on protective measures on steel imports to the EU. The EU will then vote on the measures, which aim to restrict steel imports from third countries to the EU until July 2021, on Friday.
