The European Commission published today [5^th February 2020] its communication laying out its plans regarding the future review of the EU Economic Governance. Kicking off a consultation process that will last until the end of the year, this communication takes stock of the achievements and shortcomings of the current EU Economic Governance framework.

Eurochild and our UK members reflect on how we can ensure children's rights remain a priority in the UK's Brexit transition.

After almost 4 years of negotiations, the UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. Despite Brexit, our UK members remain central to our efforts to put children at the heart of Europe. We stay united in our common cause for protecting and promoting children’s rights across Europe. 

The EVA EPS defines a minimum set of requirements to be followed by vending machines and electronic payment systems to ensure mutual compatibility. Both hardware and software/communication specifications were covered in the initial version as well as this comprehensive update.

• The European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) went live across Europe on 9th February 2019 and has been successfully operating for 1 year.
• Prescription medicines dispensed in Europe must bear safety features and be verified for their authenticity via the EMVS.
• Community pharmacies, hospitals, hospital pharmacies and other points of dispense are working to verify these medicines before they are given to patients.
