In June the European Parliament will adopt a report assessing the 'old' EU Roadmap on gender equality, and give its views on what the new EU gender equality strategy should look like. 

The report adopted in the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality in May makes key recommendations for the strengthening of EU policies when it comes to social rights, economic independence, measures to combat violence against women, and achieving balance in decision-making.

The report also outlines the main elements for better institutional cooperation at EU level.
