BRUSSELS — The Public Affairs Council, the leading nonpartisan, nonpolitical association for public affairs professionals worldwide, has opened a European office in Brussels.

Heading this new office is Managing Director András Baneth, a veteran of the EU Commission and EU Parliament and co-founder and director of the European Training Academy. Fluent in English, French, Spanish and Hungarian, András has conducted public affairs training and consulting for a wide array of corporate and multinational clients. He holds a master’s degree in European political and administrative studies from the College of Europe, as well as degrees in law and political science.

“We’re delighted to announce this expansion of Public Affairs Council services to the European capital,” said Council President Doug Pinkham. “Given the growth of our international programs and the growing importance of Europe to multinational companies, we know this is the right step at the right time. András Baneth is a tremendous complement to our Washington, D.C.-based staff.”

Since 1954, the Council has been helping major companies and associations learn about emerging issues and best practices on all aspects of public affairs, from global government relations to corporate citizenship. It designs education programs and creates exclusive peer groups for senior-level executives, mid-level professionals and those new to the public affairs practice.

More than 7,000 public affairs professionals — representing over 600 member corporations and associations worldwide — are active in the Public Affairs Council. Members are automatically eligible to participate in the Council’s Brussels-based programs and services.

“Business challenges are increasingly global in scale — and that requires a global approach to public affairs,” Pinkham said. “Our Brussels programs will be designed for organizations operating in Europe, but also for companies and associations trying to be more effective in Asia, Latin America, Africa, the United States and elsewhere.”
