The conclusions of the Marseille European Forum, who took place on 10-11 November 2017, were presented on the 30th of January 2018 to MEPs at the European Parliament, in Brussels. The need for a thorough debate on the experience of this first forum -trying to bring together progressive forces from the Left, the social-democracy and the ecological forces- was expressed from all the participants.
The MEPs who intervened during the discussions were Gabriele Zimmer, Guillaume Balas, Marie-Christine Vergiat, Marisa Matias, Marie-Pierre Vieu, Eleonora Fozenza and Elly Schlein. The conclusions were presented by the Vice President of the EL, Maite Mola. All the participants agreed that the Marseille European Forum was a good starting point and agreed that a second forum should bring together broader progressive forces, more organizations from the civil society, trade-unions, and organizations of the youth.
The Working Group of the Forum, established during its works last November, proposed to hold the second European Forum in Spain on the 9th till the 11th of November 2018. The participants also proposed that the upcoming European elections should not be associated with the next forum, as long as they want it to represent a platform, a space for political debate and convergences.
