NIS supported festival “Balkan Traffic” in Brussels fifth consecutive year

NIS, one of the largest energy companies in Southeast Europe, supported by the fifth year in a row festival "Balkan Traffic" in Brussels, as an artistic event that contributes to the promotion of culture and heritage of the Balkan region.

As a socially responsible company, which in addition to Serbia develops its activities in five countries of the Western Balkans, NIS shares basic values ​​of the festival “Balkan Traffic” – the promotion of multiculturalism, cooperation and tolerance. Support for this event is also one of the ways in which, in practice, NIS carries out its mission: with the responsible use of natural resources and modern technology to provide the people of the Balkan region energy for movement towards better.

This year's festival, which with great success is held since 2007 at the Brussels Palace of Fine Arts “Bozar”, runs until Sunday, April 23, with the participation of a large number of renowned Balkan artists. Centre “Bozar” is for the 11th time the temple of entertainment for thousands of visitors who gathers from all over Europe and beyond, to hear the sounds of the Balkans and enjoy movies and gastronomy in this region. The star of this year's festival is Goran Bregovic, whose concert “Three Letters from Sarajevo” opened the event. Beside Bregovic the opportunity to present to the audience in Brussels the musical tradition of the Balkan nations will have another twenty music ensembles and soloists from the countries of Southeast Europe. The audience in Brussels will have the opportunity to enjoy the concerts of different music styles – from ethno music typical for the Balkans, to contemporary musical trends. During the festival will also be held film screenings, workshops and discussions aimed to make closer to the European audiences not only the cultural tradition of the region, but also the current perspective of the Balkan peoples. At the festival so far have performed music stars Balkans like Bilja Krstic, Amira Medunjanin and many others, while the last year's event the most interested was master class of director Emir Kusturica and his movie “Underground”.

The first day of the festival NIS with the support of the Embassy of Serbia in Belgium, the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union and representative of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Brussels, traditionally organized a reception attended by European officials, the diplomatic corps, business partners and friends of the company. NIS through its representative office in Brussels, which has been operating since 2011, maintains contact with EU institutions.
