"The Members of the EPP Group are profoundly saddened at the news of the earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, where at least 65 people have perished. On behalf of my Group, I wish to express my sympathy with the families of those who have lost their lives", said Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.

"The government and people of New Zealand must know that they can count on Europe's solidarity and help. The EPP Group therefore calls on the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to make sure that our assistance to New Zealand is conducted in a coordinated and timely manner", said Joseph Daul.
