GUE/NGL MEPs Marisa Matias (Portugal), Willy Meyer (Spain) and Jean-Luc Mélenchon (France) will attend the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba, Bolivia, April 19 to 22 http://cmpcc.org/ .

The group welcomes the initiative taken by Bolivian President Evo Morales to convoke this conference as an important step towards the achievement of an ambitious and binding climate change deal in Mexico at the end of this year.

Proposed by GUE/NGL MEPs Elie Hoarau and Gabi Zimmer, the ACP-EU Parliamentary Assembly - which represents one and a half billion citizens - in a resolution on climate change adopted at the beginning of April in Tenerife, welcomed the initiative by President Evo Morales to call this conference and qualified it as an important contribution on the path between the Copenhagen and Cancún.
