(Brussels, 23 July 2013) The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), in cooperation with Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), has published the third edition of the map dedicated to system development matters and covering the year 2012. At the same time, ENTSOG releases the 2013 edition of its capacity map and GIE publishes the revised 2013 edition of its storage and LNG maps.

Through these maps, ENTSOG and GIE, together with their respective members, go beyond the day-to-day transparency and further contribute to the analysis of the dynamics of the European gas market.

The new edition of the System Development Map provides a graphical representation of infrastructure projects considered by ENTSOG in its TYNDP 2013-2022 assessment of the infrastructure-related market integration as well as of demand and supply developments in 2012.

Vittorio Musazzi, ENTSOG General Manager, said: “The launch of the System Development Map last year was greatly appreciated by stakeholders and we hope they will also like this new edition.

Abel Enriquez, GIE Executive Secretary, said: “ENTSOG and GIE members remain committed to increased transparency. This year, GIE has also launched new initiatives to improve transparency of data to the public. It is not only about the data themselves but also about the picture they represent and we will be happy to receive further feedback on the way to present meaningful information.

ENTSOG and GIE are committed to further enhance the map features in the future and welcome feedback on this from stakeholders.

The maps are available for download at http://www.entsog.eu/maps and http://www.gie.eu/maps_data.

  • Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is an association representing the interests of European natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, storage and LNG regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking.

  • GIE currently represents 69 member companies from 25 countries. Its internal structure has three columns corresponding to the three types of infrastructure activities represented: GTE (Gas Transmission Europe), GSE (Gas Storage Europe) and GLE (Gas LNG Europe), all of which fall under the umbrella of GIE. This structure allows member companies to speak with one voice on infrastructure topics as well as to build positions on column-specific issues.
