Cogeca honours the most innovative agri-cooperatives of 2009

At a special joint ceremony taking place today to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Cogeca honoured
six agri-cooperatives with the “European Award for Cooperative Innovation”.

The winning cooperatives are:
• In the “food processes” category: FEIRACO S.C.G from Spain.

• In “non-food processes”: CANTINA PRODUTTORI CORMONS s.c.a. from Italy.

• In “environment”: Badischer Winzerkeller eG. from Germany.

• In “service to members/cooperative entrepreneurship”: CARNES OVIARAGON S.C.L. from Spain.

• In the “food chain” category: The Greenery U.A., from the Netherlands.

A special achievement award in the “food processes” category was also presented to COSELVA S.C.C.L from Spain.

Presenting the awards, President of Cogeca Gert van Dijk said, “Cooperatives must respond to our current economic problems with creative solutions. This award is intended to show how creative European agricultural cooperatives are. I hope that in the years to come it will continue
to serve as example to others, thereby encouraging them to improve their competitiveness and their position in the food chain”.
