(Brussels - 19 April, 2012) The Cable Europe Labs Certification Board has announced that products from Cisco, Samsung and Technicolor have been certified and that a CMTS from Motorola has been granted a ‘verified for base feature set’ label following the release of testing results from Certification Wave 46.

Products that successfully passed testing by the independent test lab, Excentis, and which are ready for deployment in European markets are:

· Samsung SMT-G7440 – EuroDOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem in a Set Top Box

· Cisco EPC2325R2 – EuroDOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem

· Samsung SMT-C5120 – EuroDOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem in a Set Top Box

· Technicolor TC7200 – EuroDOCSIS 3.0 + EuroPacketCable 1.5 EMTA

“Cable is now setting the pace with the EuroDOCSIS technology and this is contributing significantly towards achieving the broadband goals laid down in the Digital Agenda for Europe. Cable Europe Labs continues to enable more products to join the race and roll-out to European markets”, said Malcolm Taylor, Chairman of the Certification Board.

In the case of Cable Modem Terminating Systems (CMTSs), the Certification Board operates a 'feature based' approach. Under this approach, vendors can submit for ‘base’ feature set plus other feature sets, such as IPv6, Upstream Channel Bonding (UCB), Dynamic Bonding Change (DBC), Multicast, among others.

Today, the Certification Board is pleased to announce that Motorola has been verified as complying with the base feature set, as defined by Cable Europe Labs guidelines, for their product Motorola BSR64000 – EuroDOCSIS 3.0 CMTS.

“Being the first ED3.0 CMTS to get a European label, it is a welcome step towards having both CPE and head–end equipment certified for the European market – and, with Motorola having achieved this status, we hope to encourage other vendors to submit for certification testing.” said Malcolm Taylor.

In addition to the above successful products in Certification Wave 46, during the first quarter of 2012, the following products, which have been tested outside of the quarterly wave programme, have also been certified. To speed up time to market, vendors are able to submit under a ‘flexible submission’ programme operated by Cable Europe Labs (CEL).

· AVM Fritz!Box 6322 EuroDOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

· Samsung SMT-G7400 EuroDOCSIS 3.0 + EuroPacketCable 1.5 EMTA in a Set Top Box

· Ubee Interactive EVW3220 EuroDOCSIS 3.0 + EuroPacketCable 1.5 EMTA

The Cable Europe Lab’s certification testing programme verifies that a product complies with the specification and is interoperable with other certified/qualified products.
