CTAM Europe (CTAME), is pleased to announce the date for its annual Symposium and Networking Event in 2020. It will take place on April 3rd in the heart of London’s Mayfair. The theme of this year’s event is: Successfully Traversing this Decade’s Streaming content landscape

In 2019 we held our first Symposium in London, attended by 100+ attendees from the likes of YouTube, Virgin Media, Liberty Global, Discovery and Viacom.  We also held special sessions at Cable Congress (now renamed GIGA) in November of that year, in Berlin, to much acclaim. You will find some highlights of the 2019 event HERE.

CTAM Europe is the Pay Television industry body delivering marketing insights, best practice, networking prospects as well as knowledge & education to a membership made up of platform owners, content providers and technical enablers.

The overarching theme of the one-day event is how the UK digital infrastructure will facilitate the growth of the services that are planned in the home entertainment sector and what might be required from a network, platform and technology perspective

Topics to be addressed include:

  • The increase in consumption in the transition from linear to on-demand,
  • What will be required in the migration from live broadcast to (near) live IP, with mobile (apps) adding another delivery platform for video snacking
  • Moving from HD, past 4K into 8K content
  • Subscriber fatigue as consumers decide which streaming brands they can live without – Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Now TV…?
  • How to Flourish in The Converged World – Delivering Sustainable Revenues in An Age Of Transformed Business Models
  • The strong growth in the AVOD sector
  • Why AI technology is more and more necessary, to help consumers navigate the growing tide of content coming their way through more and more brands

Throughout the day panels will discuss the tension between necessary investments in infrastructure and data technology solutions, the need for insights based guidance and privacy concerns and the role of government in facilitating on the one hand and protecting and regulating on the other.

These panels will be interspersed by less formal sessions, including ‘An Audience With Annet Aris – Senior Affiliate Professor of Strategy at INSEAD’ and ‘a Fireside Chat with Guy Bisson’.

CTAM Europe have secured C-Suite Level panellists from a range of high-profile media organisations including: Viacom, Liberty Global, Endemol, Irdeto, CommScope and AMC Networks, amongst others. The sessions throughout the day will be moderated by journalists, media commentators, researchers and analysts.

Louise Cottrell, Co-Chair of CTAME said “We received such great feedback at 2019’s Symposium from delegates, commentators and analysts who asked us to curate another event in 2020. We have listened to what the hot topics are throughout the industry today and created an agenda that will provoke some lively discussion. We look forward to making this an engaging and informative day for all those who attend”.

Annet Aris, Senior Affiliate Professor of Strategy, INSEAD said “With the Pay Television Ecosystem changing at an increasing pace, now is the right time to take a step back and reflect together on what the new world might look like and how we can deliver even better content in a more convenient way to our customers”.
