Stephen Russell, ANEC Secretary-General, commented: “We applaud the Parliament’s call for a European framework to be created in order to strengthen market surveillance activities across the Member States. We also very much welcome its call for the more rapid withdrawal of unsafe products from the market. We ask the Commission to reflect these recommendations in its proposal for a revised General Product Safety Directive. In order to protect the most vulnerable consumers, we also urge the Commission to set a common approach for the market surveillance of child appealing products”.
