From waste to bioproducts through biorefinery

Biorefineries play a vital role in adding value to the principles of a truly circular bioeconomy and zero waste society.

The URBIOFIN project aims to demonstrate the techno-economic and environmental viability of an integrated biorefinery for the transformation of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) into new marketable bioproducts, chemical building blocks, biopolymers and additives.

Use of Digital Technology in Humanistic Science - Project REVIVAL

ChargeUp Europe elects Allego CEO Mathieu Bonnet as its President for 2022

ChargeUp Europe, the industry body representing the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure sector has elected Mathieu Bonnet, CEO of Allego as its President in 2022.

Mr. Bonnet’s appointment comes at an important time for the sector, with discussions picking up speed on several key EU legislative initiatives to accelerate the deployment of EV charging infrastructure in public and private settings and facilitate the transition to EV driving for European citizens.

EU Ranks Huawei as the World’s 2nd Highest Investor in R&D

[Brussels, Belgium, 20, December 2021] Huawei ranks second in the 2021 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard. This is a jump of one place for Huawei compared to last year when the company ranked 3rd in the 2020 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard.

European Social Innovation Competition: The results are in!

After months of anticipation, the European Commission and the European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency (EISMEA) are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s European Social Innovation Competition: the challenge prize ‘Skills for Tomorrow – Shaping a green and digital future’.

The three winning projects, each of which will receive €50 000, were announced at the European Social Innovation Competition Awards Ceremony, held online on 8 December 2021. This year’s winners are:

New State Aid Guidelines allow technology-specific auctions, endorse Contracts for Difference to deploy more wind

Today the European Commission published its new EU Guidelines on State Aid for Climate, Environmental Protection and Energy. The new Guidelines allow National Governments to hold technology specific auctions and endorse revenue stabilisation mechanisms notably 2-sided CfDs. These are pre-conditions for the accelerated deployment of wind energy towards climate neutrality.

MedTech Europe welcomes the adoption of amended transitional provisions of the In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation

Brussels, 20 December 2021 - MedTech Europe welcomes the adoption of the European Commission’s Proposal to amend the transitional provisions of the new EU In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVD Regulation). With today’s adoption by the Council of the European Union, which follows a corresponding plenary vote of the European Parliament last week, both EU legislators recognise the need for a workable transition into the new European regulatory framework for IVD medical tests.
