S&Ds: Running out of time to achieve 2030 Agenda. We must incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals in every EU policy!

There are less than eight years to go until 2030, the target date to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. However, the already difficult path towards their achievement has been hindered even more due to the devastating consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war against Ukraine. Now, even the small progresses that have been made are being reversed.

EU joint gas purchases means cheaper gas, and we made it possible, say S&Ds

The Socialists and Democrats welcome the new Gas Storage Regulation. They believe their ideas taken on board in this legislation will make sure energy supply for EU citizens and businesses is not interrupted during next winter’s season. The joint purchases of gas from third countries is a great achievement for the S&D Group. This means that from now, it will be possible at an EU level to negotiate together the prices of gas supplies from other parts of the world.

S&Ds: Parliament votes to extend EU COVID Certificates as a precaution

Following negotiations with EU governments, the European Parliament has voted to extend the validity of the EU Digital COVID Certificate. The certificates were originally agreed between the Parliament and the Council as a tool to make travel easier, and in particular to ease travel restrictions for people that have been vaccinated, tested negative or have recently recovered from COVID. The current framework is due to expire on 1 July.

Ahead of NATO Summit, S&Ds go to Helsinki to express support for Finnish and Swedish NATO membership
