The Liberals and Democrats at the European Parliament support a proposal on the regulation of rating agencies, tabled today by the European Commission. The four major aspects of the proposal match the expectations of the ALDE-Group, expressed in earlier proposals of the European Parliament:
- prevent conflicts of interest and guarantee the independence of ratings;
- reassure the quality of ratings;
- set clear transparency and disclosure obligations;

No to the revision of the working time directive - No to 65-hour working week

Following today's vote at the Employment and Social Affairs Committee of the EP, on the revision of the working time directive, GUE/NGL shadow rapporteur Dimitris Papadimoulis said that the GUE/NGL group will insist on rejecting the Council's anti-labour and anti-social plans on the "elastic 65-hour working week".
