Cecile Bonino, public affairs and media relations manager at ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) tasted success last night as she was given the ‘Public Affairs Professional of the Year’ award at the European Publics Affairs Awards 2012 ceremony.

Held in Brussels, the prestigious awards showcase and celebrate best practice across the European public affairs industry.

The judges’ criteria for this particular award focussed on the contribution to the aims of the organisation the person works for, engagement with the public affairs industry and/or involvement in wider EU policy debate and discussion.

Cecile’s nomination details described how she: exercises incredible initiative in promoting ACCA's policy positions on a whole range of issues impacting on the accountancy profession.

As well as providing good intelligence on topical developments, she engages with a wide range of stakeholders, such as MEPs, regulators, policy thinkers and European Commission colleagues and is highly respected in her field.

Her hard work is reflected by the wide range of stakeholders she attracts to ACCA seminars and roundtables to discuss a wide range of topics, including EU audit developments, SME policy, taxation policy, public sector finance, sustainability reporting and corporate reporting. She has a proven track record of helping ACCA to influence and shape the agenda on all issues that matter to the accountancy profession.

Petros Fassoulas, ACCA head of policy and public affairs – Europe, said: “I’m very proud that Cecile has won this award, it is well deserved, all credit goes to her.

“This is an endorsement of the constructive role ACCA is playing by being an objective, informed and reliable partner for the EU institutions and a platform for debate among stakeholders in Brussels.”
