Adam McCarthy (Johnson Controls) was elected President of the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EuroACE) for a 2-year mandate at the EuroACE General Assembly on 28th June, 2012. Adam McCarthy is Director Government and Trade Relations EMEA at Johnson Controls, and previous Chair of the EuroACE Working Groups on Financial and Fiscal Policies and on External Communications. Mr McCarthy replaces Jonna Byskata (United Technologies) who acted as President and previously Vice-President of EuroACE from 2008-2011.
“I am thrilled to take on the leadership of EuroACE, as it expands into an increasingly respected organisation in Brussels policy-making” said Adam McCarthy. “EuroACE is an alliance of progressive companies from all sectors of energy efficiency in buildings, and is unique in this way as it provides the European institutions with one single interlocutor on the topic of energy efficiency in buildings, making our voice stronger and more powerful. I look forward to working with all of its members to ensure that a coherent vision on energy efficiency is adopted at the European level which will yield tangible results for the building sector as a whole, thereby capitalizing on its potential to considerably reduce energy demand and stimulate growth and jobs in Europe.”
Given EuroACE’s increasingly expanding role in Brussels, two Vice-Presidents were also appointed: Céline Carré (Saint-Gobain Isover) and Susanne Dyrboel (Rockwool International). Céline Carré was previously Chair of the EuroACE Working Group on Energy Efficiency Policies. Susanne Dyrboel is the Vice-Chair of the Renovate Europe Campaign, initiated by EuroACE in 2011. Regrouping 21 partners both within and outside EuroACE membership, Renovate Europe’s headline objective is to reduce the energy demand of Europe’s building stock by 80% by 2050 as compared to 2005 levels.
“EuroACE is delighted about the recent new nominations for President and Vice-Presidents, and looks forward to the valuable contributions from all three in strengthening the alliance’s position” explained Adrian Joyce, Secretary-General of EuroACE. “EuroACE wishes to thank Jonna Byskata for her unwavering commitment to EuroACE activities over the past years”, Adrian Joyce added.
At the General Assembly, EuroACE members also renewed their confidence in the members of the EuroACE Board of Directors for the next two years, with only minor changes: David Baumgart (BASF), Jonna Byskata (UTC), Celine Carré (Saint-Gobain Isover), Susanne Dyrboel (Rockwool International), Julie Kjestrup (Danfoss), Oliver Loebel (PU Europe), Barry Lynham (Knauf Insulation), Adam McCarthy (Johnson Controls), Kay Rauwerdink (Philips), and Ingrid Reumert (Velux Group).
The EuroACE Board of Executives renews its mandate from 1st July 2012, when the President and Vice-Presidents take up their new roles.
