Group Study Days in Iceland to focus on environment, finance and fisheries

The European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) Group in the European Parliament, a 35-member group representing 17 political parties from 12 EU member states, will be in Reykjavik for its Study Days from 2 to 5 May 2011.
Participating GUE/NGL MEPs* and guest speakers, including Icelandic government ministers Svandis Svavarsdóttir (Environment), Steingrímur Sigfùsson (Finance), Jón Bjatnason (Fisheries), plus environmentalists, academics, financial and other experts, will address three main topics: the Arctic Dimension; the Economic and Financial Crisis, and Fisheries Policy, the latter with a particular emphasis on marine resources.
The Study Days to be held in the Hotel Hilton Nordica, Sudurlandsbraut 2, Reykjavic, will get underway on Tuesday, 3rd May at 8.45 am and conclude on Thursday 5 May from 9 to 10 am with a bilateral meeting between GUE/NGL MEPs and an Icelandic representative.
