MedTech Europe has launched a cybersecurity position paper on a resilient medical technology ecosystem.

The digital ecosystem has significantly changed the way in which healthcare is delivered to patients. Today, medical technology manufacturers concentrate both on guaranteeing the safety and security of MDs and IVDs, as well as on the protection of patients’ and users’ confidential data.

Cybersecurity remains an integral element of digital medical technologies under our sectoral requirements, as well as other legislation on cybersecurity and privacy with which we comply. As such, medical technology manufacturers invest substantial resources in ensuring state of the art cybersecurity for all their products and services, thus ensuring the resilience of the digital health ecosystem.

With this position paper, MedTech Europe puts forward three areas of discussion for regulators, medical technology manufacturers, healthcare systems and wider society, to explore how we might reinforce the digital resilience of the healthcare sector, and the safety and security of patients.
