The Party of European Socialists will discuss progressive policies to boost growth and jobs at the European level during a meeting at the Château de la Celle Saint-Cloud, near Paris, on Thursday 25th August 2016.

The high level progressive summit will be hosted by the President of the French Republic, François Hollande. Prime Ministers, Heads of State and high level European officials from the PES family will attend the meeting. This is the second PES summit of its kind this year.

PES President Sergei Stanishev said: “I hope that we will continue the discussion on the future of Europe after the British ‘leave’ vote. The meeting will also focus on the need for sustainable growth and for a Union that puts people first. Immediately after the referendum in Britain, the PES started a broad discussion on the future of Europe, involving all its member parties, social democrat organisations in the EU, its activists and supporters”, Stanishev said.

In Paris the progressive leaders will also discuss other challenges that the European Union is facing right now. The high level progressive summit will take place just three days after today’s meeting between France’s President François Hollande, Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel.
