Additive manufacturing to be soon at the center stage of the European regulations

Hannover, 17 September 2019 – In the next months, few important issues should be finalized by the European Commission: product liability, intellectual property rights, and US-EU trade deal. CECIMO is actively monitoring these dossiers in order to cushion the impact on additive manufacturing. Despite these sensitive issues, the AM sector is moving faster towards the development of harmonized standards and we see many actions to fill in the skills gap in Europe.
 

Iratxe García demands important clarifications from von der Leyen ahead of the Commissioner-designate hearings

Today at the Conference of political group leaders in the European Parliament, the president of the Socialists and Democrats expressed concerns and demands that should be clarified by the European Commission president-elect, Ursula von der Leyen, before the start of the hearings.

Brazilian environment and human rights defenders - S&Ds nominees for the 2019 Sakharov Prize

The Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament have jointly nominated three Brazilian activists for the 2019 Sakharov Prize. They represent voices for human rights and protection of the environment.

EU 2020 budget: “we stand for climate and social justice. Cuts are not acceptable!”, say S&D Euro MPs

S&D Euro MPs today in the Strasbourg Plenary session warned national governments that they will not accept the cuts in the draft 2020 budget proposed by the EU Council. Given the new majorities in the house, following this year’s election, they expect the Parliament to make proper use of all available means to tackle the major challenges the EU is facing, such as sustainability, action to fight climate change, the Youth Employment Initiative and the development of a constructive European Neighbourhood Policy, just to name a few.

S&Ds call for more robust response to money laundering

Speaking ahead of Council and Commission statements on the state of implementation of anti-money laundering legislation, S&D MEPs have called on EU governments to step up their efforts for closer cooperation between member states, and a comprehensive European anti-money laundering framework with an Authority and a single rulebook.
