EU cable market sees revenue growth despite industry change and competition

Berlin 14 November 2019: The European Union cable industry continues to grow despite convergence and disruption in the sector, with total cable revenues increasing by 3% to €24 billion in 2018, according to IHS statistics released today at Cable Congress 2019 in Berlin, the annual conference organised by the industry’s trade association, Cable Europe.

Diversity and inclusion tops agenda for first woman from China to head global accountants’ body

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has elected the first-ever female member from China to serve as its President.

Jenny Gu will head the organisation, which has more than 219,000 members and 527,000 students across 179 countries, after ACCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in London confirmed her appointment on the 21 November 2019.

Mark Millar steps into new post at global accountants’ body

The chief executive of St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich is taking on a leading role at a professional body which represents more than 200,000 accountants from all over the world.

Mark Millar was named the new deputy president of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in London on the 21 November.

Mr Millar will continue with his work at the hospice which has cared for terminally ill people from Suffolk, as well as their families, since 1988.

The city of Tirana, Albania has been announced as the next winner of the European Youth Capital (EYC) title.  
 
The Award Ceremony in Amiens was attended by French President, Emmanuel Macron, who encouraged all young people in Europe to take action to shape the future and protect the values of freedom and democracy. He also expressed pride at his hometown, the city of Amiens, that will take the title of European Youth Capital next year in 2020.
