From 22 to 24 January, the 20th edition of the European Energy Transition Conference will be held in Dunkirk. As every year, nearly 3500 participants - representatives of the public authorities, economic and academic worlds and the civil society, are awaited to discuss and share their experience of energy transition in the regions around a program made up of over a hundred events - plenary sessions, collaborative workshops and field visits. The local players will demonstrate on this occasion that they are essential links in society’s energy and ecological transformation, alongside their regional and national partners. They are linchpins, drivers of innovation and action, in an unstable international political context. Registrations begin at the beginning of December!

THE EUROPEAN ENERGY TRANSITION CONFERENCE: THE ANNUAL HIGH SPOT OF THE LOCAL PLAYERS COMMITTED TO ENERGY TRANSITION FOR 20 YEARS NOW

Launched in 1999 by the Dunkirk Urban Community, in partnership with ADEME, then co-organized by Bordeaux Métropole and Greater Geneva, the European Energy Transition Conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2019. As the leading European event after the COP(s)* dedicated to energy transition, the Energy Conference occupies an important place in the international energy and ecological calendar. Over the 3 days, nearly 3500 participants – local elected representatives, local technicians, businesses, associations, researchers and citizens, will meet up to discuss energy transition and bear witness to its benefits at the local level: whether for the economy, employment, biodiversity, preservation of resources, health or the quality of life. The event, as a concentrated mix of experience, skills and ideas, is also and above all a great opportunity for each participant to make contact with other players in order to open up new horizons.

DUNKIRK ‘EUROPEAN ENERGY TRANSITION CONFERENCE’ 2019: AN ‘ANNIVERSARY’ EDITION AND A MULTI-FORMAT PROGRAM PROMOTING ANALYSIS, INSPIRATION AND CO-CONSTRUCTION

As an ‘anniversary’ edition, the 20yh edition of the ‘European Energy Transition Conference’ will be the opportunity to review 20 years of regional Climate-Air-Energy policy, draw the collective lessons of this and above all look ahead 20 years on to imagine and co-construct a carbon-free future. Transport, town planning, agriculture, economy, new technologies, management of information systems, new solidarities and cooperation… During the 3 days, over a hundred appointments – plenary sessions, sharing and co-construction workshops, theme site visits await the conference attendees « inside and outside the walls » of the Kursaal Convention Centre of Dunkirk. Among the major topics announced: transformations of the local public service, of the city and industry, new governances, resilience or again sobriety.
