Leading voices in decarbonising EU road transport are urgently calling on EU Member States and the European Parliament to agree on ambitious targets for electric recharging and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure. 

IRU, representing commercial road transport operators, together with ACEA, representing vehicle manufacturers, Transport & Environment, an NGO, and Hydrogen Europe, an association grouping companies and public sector authorities, have signed a joint letter to EU leaders.

High time to stop unfair competition by companies receiving distortive foreign subsidies

Today, the European Parliament is set to adopt in a vote in Strasbourg its negotiation mandate on a new EU instrument to deal with foreign subsidies distorting the internal market. The new tool would enable the Commission to investigate cases, to require remedies such as repayments of the subsidies, or even impose fines of up to 10% of annual turnover. Following a successful vote in plenary, Parliament will enter into negotiations with EU member states as of tomorrow.

S&Ds: Organic Agriculture Plan – a boost to developing the sector and more land under organic farming

The European Parliament has given its green light to the EU Action Plan for Organic Agriculture that aims to have 25% of the EU’s agricultural land under organic farming and see a significant increase in organic aquaculture by 2030.  This plan arises from the European Green Deal and complements the Farm to Fork strategy.  Organic farming offers high quality food with low environmental impact and plays a key role in reinforcing and developing the EU’s sustainable food system.
