New EU Member States, with the exception of Hungary and Slovakia, are still facing substantial problems implementing the current EU Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD), according to a new RICS report “Towards an Energy Efficient Building Stock” launched today (12 September 2008).
Whilst countries like Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal have successfully completed all the actions required by the EPBD to improve energy performance in buildings, countries such as Greece and most new Member States will not achieve full implementation before 1 January 2009.
