"This is a major decision in favour of transparency and a slap in the face for everyone who has participated in hiding the documents of the Dalli case from the public", said Inge Gräßle MEP, EPP Group Spokeswoman in the European Parliament Budgetary Control Committee. Today, the European Ombudswoman, Emily O'Reilly, asked for the publication of a letter and internal notes concerning the resignation of Commissioner John Dalli in October 2012.

"In Parliament, we protested just last week against this behaviour of not disclosing documents in the discharge of the European Parliament budget 2012. We need to put an end to hiding the facts of the Dalli case. I welcome the recommendations from the European Ombudswoman. This is a major step towards more transparency and the information right of the public", Gräßle concluded.

The EPP Group is by far the largest political group in the European Parliament with 274 Members from 27 Member States.
